Firestarters Youth Mission Trip - June 9-15, 2018
The Senior High YF went to Chattanooga for our mission trip from June 9th-15th. We took 26 students and 6 adults. We served with YouthWorks again this year, a group that leads our mission trip and partners us with local organizations in need. You can learn more about them at youthworks.com. We took 26 students and 6 adults. There were 3 churches there, one from Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, one from Bryan, Texas, and us. We spent the majority of each day serving. Between the 3 churches we were broken up into 6 different crews and were each given different sites during the day. Between the 6 crews, we worked at 4 different kids clubs, 1 head start program, 3 nursing homes, 2 environmental programs, and 3 meal packaging programs. Most crews served at 2-3 different locations throughout the week. After we got back from our service sites, we ate dinner together and went to an evening activity. We went on a hike at a really cool place called Rock City. It led us up to Lookout Mountain where you can supposedly see 7 different states on a clear day. We also had a lip sync contest, a community cookout, and got ice cream and explored the river in downtown Chattanooga. After that, we came back to the church we were staying at and had a worship service followed by time with our whole church group. We walked away with new perspectives on missions, had a ton of fun, and grew closer to Christ. It was an amazing trip!
