Deep Impact!
Did you see Deep Impact? The science fiction disaster film released in 1998 depicts the attempts to prepare for and destroy a 7-mile wide comet set to collide with Earth and cause a mass extinction. An international team of astronauts prepares to save the earth by going to the comet and blowing it up. Plans are formulated to save humanity and animal species in limestone caves in Missouri. I would tell you how it comes out, but I don’t want to be the plot spoiler for the film you’ve been waiting two decades to see. Here’s an event to put on your must see list: Coming to a Chapel near you, Impact! A Spiritual Life Weekend. We don’t expect the extinction of the human race or 3,500 foot high Tsunamis, but we are praying that this weekend will have a deep Impact! On you. A year ago, Ignite! left an imprint on us. Some of us, took radically large forward steps in your spiritual journeys. Most of us were moved by the Holy Spirit. It was a great weekend for our spiritual life. Many of us look back to revivals, Lay Witness Weekends, Emmaus Walks, and other spiritual events fondly. Commitments were made and persons were saved at the front of this church. We learned to pray. We became more regular in our church activity. Our marriages, our homes are strong for them. Servant’s hearts were created within us. Our spiritual lives are not the same becomes of these events–nor would we want them to be. So clear your calendar: March 17, Friday evening; March 18, Saturday morning and evening; March 19, Sunday morning and evening. There will be nursery, children’s and youth activities. Prayerfully prepare your heart. This is a perfect opportunity to invite friends and family to come with you. Dr. Stan Key, president of Francis Asbury Society in Wilmore, Kentucky, will speak using the theme "Revelation: The Last Word". Pastor John knows Christians in his day were living in an evil empire surrounded by sin and the dragon. That sounds like our days. He encourages them and us to live faithful lives. I’m praying for a deep Impact! in your life, that will Impact! Liberty Chapel, and will Impact! the community and world for Jesus. |
