The Epworth Project February 2-9, 2019
We again had a team of people travel to Louisiana on a mission trip to work on homes in the New Orleans area. We had 13 people on the trip. They included Max & Pat Fetterman, Dan Bare, Joe & Carla Gillen, Tom & Lowynn Atkinson, Louise Dalton, Stephanie Gillen, Jillian Clapp, Deb Gillen, Brittany Gillen, and Mark Jones. This year our team worked on four different homes. (1) In one home we removed mold, repaired floors, sealed cracks and repainted inside for an older woman. (2) In the second home we repaired plumbing, repaired bathroom tile, repaired a door, and did painting. (3) In the third home we visited a house we worked on last year to do additional repairs. That included scraping paint, repainting, plaster repair, and replacing wood molding. (4) In the last home the entire inside of the home needed painted and we were able to get the first coat done upstairs. We also took some time for relaxation, watching the Super Bowl at the dorm, making our traditional ice cream stop as well as visiting the Civil War Museum, going on a swamp tour, and visiting Mardi Gras World. The Epworth Project strives to bring hope and comfort to those in the community who are considered to be the least, the last, and the lost by providing volunteer services that offer the opportunity to change the lives of both the client and the volunteer.
