Firestarters Youth Mission Trip - June 19-24, 2016
From June 19-24, 25 youth and advisors from the Senior High group embarked on a journey to Lee University for a mission trip with Student Life. Lee University is a private Christian school located in the historic neighborhood of Cleveland, TN and is only 30 minutes from Chattanooga. On our trip we spent the first half of the day serving in the community. The second half of each day included activities, worship, small groups, and time together as a church group. Each day we had quiet time with God, morning worship, small group Bible studies, and evening worship. Between all of that we spent the middle of our day at Shepherd Community Center being God's hands and feet as we lead a kid's program of about 90 kids. This ran fairly similar to a Vacation Bible School as we broke our students into 3 groups and each group lead a different station. The kids were split up ages 5-6, ages 7-12 boys, and ages 7-12 girls. The groups rotated through all 3 stations each day as our students taught them about God. Our students did an incredible job serving and loving these kids. After all was said and done each day we came back together as a church group to process the day and share what we were learning. The trip brought our group closer together and has sparked many students to live for Christ in different ways.
