Christmas Offering - Youth for Christ - Our Christmas Eve love offering will be donated to the Juvenile Justice Ministry which is part of Youth for Christ. Kathy Gathany spoke to our church members during the Sunday School hour on December 8th. She coordinates the program in the local four county area. The local program works with youth (ages 11-19) at the Stryker Juvenile Detention Center 3 days per week. One day is devoted to Life Skills, another to Bible discipleship, and another one-to-one counseling. Many of these youth come from dysfunctional drug addicted families and are here themselves struggling to break drug addiction and find purpose in life. Gathany shared that half of these children have no contact from home during their incarceration leaving them to feel that they do not matter and nobody cares. In February she will be starting a diversion (prevention) program with the 6th grade in the Napoleon Schools. She is asking for prayer support, volunteers to go with her to the detention center, and financial assistance. A copy of their brochure is located on our "Missions and Projects" page in the "Ministries" drop down menu above. You can contact her at 419-782-0656 (office) or email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
