Firestarters Youth Mission Trip - June 14-19, 2015
From June 15-19, the Sr. High group went to Wake Forest, North Carolina for a mission trip with Student Life. They went to their mission camp as they stepped out of their comfort zones to serve the community, spend time together as a group, learn about God, and live out their faith. For more information you can go to the web page. http://www.studentlife.com/locations/65/wake-forest-university
During the trip we went down to Wake Forest University and stayed in their dorms. We spent the day serving at Habitat for Humanity and their ReStore. We were also able to be a part of building two homes and were able to assist them with various projects in the ReStore. We learned what it meant to be Jesus' hands and feet while we were serving all day in the 100 degree weather. After serving into the afternoon, we had a little free time before we came back together for dinner, small group time, and corporate worship. After worship with all of the other students there, we came together as a church group to recap the day. We had an incredible speaker and worship leader that brought some powerful messages about our theme, “Come to the Table”. The central theme was that God has a place at a table for us and we have to respond. Will you fill yourself with the bread of life or the cheap meals the world has to offer? As a group, we grew so much closer to each other and to God.
